My Story

My name is Rhys Richards, I'm 22 years old, and I'm from Milton Keynes.

For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to build something meaningful — something that people could connect with and that could inspire others. But for many years, I felt like I wasn't making progress. I watched others move forward while I felt stuck, and there were moments where I genuinely questioned whether I would ever achieve my dreams.

Looking back now, I realise those moments were not holding me back. They were preparing me.

When I was seven years old, my dad handed me his guitar, introducing me to the world of metal music. I instantly fell in love. Seeing my passion grow, he bought me my first guitar from Rock Hard Music, and from that moment, music became a huge part of my life.

I spent countless hours learning songs from my favourite band, Avenged Sevenfold. My biggest inspiration has always been Synyster Gates. His creativity, technical ability and emotion showed me what was possible with a guitar. He inspired me to dream of becoming a lead guitarist and creating moments that people would remember.

During my time at Denbigh High School, I dedicated myself to improving as a guitarist. I joined a music club called Rockschool, where I met other talented musicians who shared the same passion for creating music.

Through Rockschool, I performed my first ever gig at The Craufurd Arms in Milton Keynes, experiencing the feeling of performing live for the first time. It was a moment that made me realise music was more than just playing an instrument — it was about connecting with people.

I also entered my first school talent show, performing Hail to the King by Avenged Sevenfold alongside a close friend. We ended up winning, proving to me that the hours of practice and dedication were starting to pay off.

Wanting to take my passion further, I continued my journey at Milton Keynes College Chaffron Way, where I chose Music as my course. I started another band called Seismic, hoping it would become the beginning of my career. Although it didn't work out, it taught me valuable lessons and pushed me to continue improving.

Even through setbacks, I never stopped creating music. I kept practising, writing and learning, but there were times where I questioned whether my dreams would ever become reality.

Then, around two years ago, everything changed.

While working at The Warbler on the Wharf in Milton Keynes, I met ANXY, a music artist, event organiser and manager. I knew this was an opportunity I couldn't ignore, and after meeting him, my entire perspective changed.

ANXY took me under his wing and, alongside his partner Tony, gave me opportunities, knowledge and support that helped me grow both personally and professionally. They became more than mentors — they became people I am genuinely grateful to have in my life.

Because of what I learned from ANXY and the opportunities he gave me, I have been able to work alongside incredible artists, performers and public figures, including Sandi and Sandra from Gogglebox, Rozalla, Kelly Wilde, Basewooly, Aggy the Gift and many more.

I have also had the opportunity to meet and work with some of the biggest names within the LGBTQ+I scene, gaining experiences I never imagined when I was just a kid practising guitar in my bedroom.

Today, I am building my career as a music events organiser and manager, supporting artists, helping create events and continuing to grow within the industry I always dreamed of being part of.

Looking back, I realise none of the setbacks were wasted. Every failed band, every rejection, every doubt and every hour spent practising was helping me become the person I needed to be when the right opportunities arrived.

That's the reason I created UNWRITTEN.

UNWRITTEN isn't just a clothing brand. It represents the belief that your past does not define your future.

Everyone experiences failure. Everyone has moments where they feel lost, overlooked or like they aren't moving forward. But those moments don't have to define the ending.

I created this brand for anyone who has ever questioned themselves — because I've been there.
